Hello, all!
Following a recent commission spree (not all of them were posted to DevArt), I've adjusted my prices slightly in regards to adding characters to the pic. I've realized asking for an additional three bucks per extra character just doesn't make sense, so now all the prices are adjusted as per character. I'm still making very little money on my work (see the breakdown of a priced commission at the end of the journal), but I love my DevArt peeps that much, so enjoy the low pricing while it lasts!
Commission Slots:
In light of the fact that I am starting classes at the end of the month, I've also decided to implement commission slots, so that I don't risk having too big a workload and having to turn people down or having them wait too long.
I will have five commission slots at a time, so that I can ensure quality work and reasonable wait times for my lovely commissioners. Commissioners will be listed in a "Commissioner Features" journal, with three works of their choice from their gallery thumbed in the journal next to their icon. I'd like to give them a little extra 'thank you' in the form of exposure while they wait. The feature will last for either one week or until I have finished their commission, whichever time is longest.
Process:
Note me what you'd like done, complete with description and any desired references.
Once I know what you want and have accepted the job, you can
send half of the total payment through PayPal and I'll send you images along the way (initial sketches, inks, flat colors, etc) so that you can request any changes before the next stage of the drawing is completed. I follow these methods to make sure that you feel safe about getting what you paid for, and I feel safe about getting the money I have worked for. Win-win!
Once completed, I'll ask you to
send the remaining payment through PayPal, and once that's been received, I will post your pic to DevArt (if you're okay with that) and also send you the high-quality file via email or note.
Pricing:

$15 per character for cel shaded/fully shaded colors

Adding backgrounds:
Backgrounds are not included in the above prices. The prices may also have additional charges depending on detail. I can't do an entire city war zone for five bucks, for example. A room or simple landscape/location/design, great! Unless particularly complex (like a city war zone made entirely of Celtic knots with banshees and space ships flying around), the additional charge should only be somewhere between $5-$10.
+$5 for simple pencil background
total of
+$8 for simple, inked background
total of
+$11 for simple, flat colored background
total of
+$15 for simple, fully colored and shaded background
Example Breakdown of Priced Commission:
This piece had a total cost of $71.
($15 x 4 cel shaded characters) $60 + (flat colored background) $11 =$71
With all the elements in the picture and that go into making a picture (finding accurate references for the characters, working out a good composition, sketching, inking, color picking and layout, shading and color finishing, final touches), the piece took about 30 hours spread over a little less than a week. With PayPal taking a percentage of each transaction, I made less than $2 an hour. However, for now I've decided to keep my prices as low as possible so that people can afford them. Artists and the people who want art are pretty often equally broke, lol. So, I hope you see these prices as fair for the amount of work going into each piece!
So!
I hope I've made everything as clear as possible! Talk to me and tell me your thoughts, ask any questions, make any complaints. I love hearing from people, it lets me know the zombie outbreak hasn't spread too far.
Much love!
